Take Off the Tarp

When you put your boat away for the winter, you should have covered it up with a tarp to keep it clean. So, before you start doing anything, you should remove the tarp covering your boat. If needed, clean any dust off your boat.

Check the Engine

After your boat has been stored for a lengthy period, you want to check the engine to see if it is in the right condition. Inspect the outdrive to ascertain that it is ready for you to get the engine started. While doing this, you must not forget to change your oil filter. It is advisable only to add the recommended oil so that the engine is not spoilt.

Refill the Cooling System

Each time you are storing your boat for the winter, you must drain the cooling system. Now that you are about to get your boat ready for active use, make sure to refill the cooling system. Check the Battery

You should never skip a battery check when getting your boat ready for spring. Use a battery tester to check the amps and volts of the battery. If the battery cannot hold a charge, then replace it.
