


Hampton Watercraft and Marine’s Fishing Team Reels in 28.72 lb Mahi in SMTC Offshore Invitational.
Hampton Watercraft & Marine, located in Westhampton Beach, NY & a marina Hampton Bays, NY is proud to have sponsored the Ariel, captained by Ned Kaplan, in the SMTC Offshore Fishing Tournament .The tournament, with an average of 80 boats and 600 quests in attendance is one of the largest on eastern Long Island and benefits the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island.
Starting August 15th, 2009 through August 23rd the Ariel, a Boston Whaler 345 Conquest, set out in the overnight category with hopes of coming back with a big one. Captain Ned Kaplan and his crew knew it would be tough, but they persevered. On August 18, 2009 the Ariel came in from the Canyon to the weigh station at Oakland’s, where they took the lead for the Mahi category with their 28.72 lb. Mahi.
On August 23, 2009 the Ariel was presented the award for largest Mahi catch in the overnight category. Their Mahi was the largest overall in the tournament. The Ariel also came in third place, catching two White Marlins weighing 65 and 70 lbs, and was able to weigh in three Yellow Fin at 69 lbs. each, and a 48 lb. Albacore. During the tournament there were over a dozen Mahi caught on the Ariel. We are proud that Captain Ned Kaplan and his crew were able to place in the SMTC Offshore Invitational in his Unsinkable Legend, Ariel.
